Ducato x290 LED DRL headlight retrofit.

Hi can anyone please help me with retrofitting these lights, I have downloaded multi scan the registered paid version, I have the elm cable and the yellow adapter but cannot connect for love nor money, or is anyone local to Cheshire that can change these bytes for me? Obviously will pay

What is your ELM device and where did you get it from?

There are many ELM devices that just don't work on Fiats.

Has anyone had any success in changing there drl’s from the bulb type to the led type (changing the full head lights)
I’ve had my fiat Ducato camper-van since 2022 (the van is a 2022 model) and I’ve had no such luck, I’m happy to pay someone to do this or take me through the procedure.

If it is just the DRL bulbs then have you tried just replacing them? No need to change the whole lamp unit. MES / other will also not be required.

And don't be confused by so called CAN Bulbs/LEDs. There are no such beasts. What they are really saying is that the LED replacement should not cause a lamp failure warning because it incorporates an additional load resistor to make it look like a normal bulb.

Sorry I may have not explained myself correctly, my van came from the factory with the halogen DRL’s which are very common in a fiat Ducato, these headlights are the more inexpensive headlights and they don’t look as good. There is an upgrade headlight from fiat that has LED DRL’s which is built into the bottom of the headlight but these lights will not work with out the body control module being altered. I have found a company in Germany that can do the programming but it’s a bit of a drive just to get this work carried out.
So if anyone know a person or a dealer that can carry out this work on a series 8 fiat Ducato I’m happy to pay them

OK. I understand. I was trying to say that if you don't want to replace the whole light cluster which would be expensive you could look and just replacing the halogen DRLs (Daylight Running Lights) bulbs with LEDs ones and leave the Headlamps/Driving Lamps as halogen ones.

If replacing the whole unit then MES can probably program the correct Proxy data but I don't know what bytes would needed to be changed and to what values.

Hopefully somebody here can advise.

Hi everyone.

Some answers

1. You need Multiecuscan in full version
2. Maybe You need colored adapters (I have Ducato 2018 and I need yellow adapter)
3. Run Multiecuscan, then select Your vehicle, then select Body, then Can Setup / Proxi.
4. If You get a message with color adapter then plug in adapter with that color
5. If You have connection You must go to Adjustments (F7)
6. Click on blue text proxi alignment procedure (click ones)
7. Press CTRL + ALT + C on keyboard and then proxi editor will show up.
8. Copy that config and save on notepad TWO TIMES on two different places on desktop and some other drive or partition
9. Now in that editor You must edit byte 76 or 134 or both, You can get HEX value from this post from prev answers
10. When You change bytes You confirm by OK and then You click EXECUTE to write proxi to vehicle and done.

Some tech specs and light models

1. Normal light with DRL day running lights with bulb, this is W21W5 bulb, 21W day running light and 5W position light, low beam and high beam are H7 bulb, ECU, BODY Computer check resistance and current flow to check bulb is correct or not, if we dont have current flow, and resistance is too high we have a warning bulb broken
2. Light with DRL Led Stripe, we have 2 normal bulbs to low and high beam and led stripe with around 15 white leds and those lights have LED Converter, we have 3 signal in that converter, ground, +12V and signal/feedback, when we turn on the car led stripe have a full power of light and converter send a feedback to ECU, Body Computer, when we turn on the ligths led stripe have only 1/2 power of light and there is position light mode. Converter also send feedback to the ECU. If You have normal lights with BULB drl and You want to change to LED stripe its ok, You can change and change proxi from Bulb to LED stripe and everything will be ok BUT if You want to have normal light with bulb socket and You put W21W5 LED bulb to that lamp You get a warning message on cluster Broken DRL Bulb, and even if You program proxi to LED you also get a warning because You DONT have a led converter to send a feedback to ECU.
3. We have also a full LED lamp LED on every light low beam, high beam, DRL etc. and also You can program this to vehicle.
