Oil Reset Excecution Failed

Post by mjb_i »

I have a 2023 Giulia Quadrifoglio, purchased new during November 2022. The first service, including oil change, was included. I just performed an oil change, over the weekend. I purchased a registered version of MES. I attempted to reset the oil change in the Engine section of MES. I connected successfully,, navigated to the proper section in Engine, pressed execute and confirmed with a Y. MES began the process, then returned an execution error. From what I read in your information, and on other forums, the SGW module is not necessary to execute the oil change update. Is that true? If true, what changes can I make to execute the oil change update? I will do the service update after the car is inspected (I am in PA). I did not try that update. It may fail as well. Please offer advice how I may proceed.

My understanding is that an installed SGW BLOCKS ALL WRITE functions. Resets of codes and service and oil etc. are write functions so will fail.

As far as I'm concerned Fiat/FCA have done beyond sensible write control. Write control should have been limited to vehicle Security. Start, Security, Alarms, Keys, etc and not be blocking legitimate vehicle service and error functions.

Things are only going to get worse once embedded BCM (body computer module) SGM (now in new Ducatos) and to follow full Can-Bus Encryption is implemented.

Thank you for the reply. It is what I expected. When I bought oil, filter and MES, I thought (based on an incorrect online post) that I did not need the SGW bypass. It looks like I need to purchase it today. In addition, I own an Alientech Kess 3 (also previously owned a Kess V2). Alientech has always been slow at adding certain new models. They still have not offered access to the Quadrifoglio, except via bench or boot. mode.

Yes, I understand that I need it. Do you recommend a particular SGW bypass? At Alfissimo, an Alfa Romeo specialist where I bought my supplies and MES, they sell the Stuff4Car version.

most of the SGW bypass cables/adapters on market are pretty good quality so it's up to you which to get.
