Unknown ISO code. Module cannot be identified

My TRW airbag ECU (11/11/13) developed the common B0100 fault that typically requires either a crash data reset or a full replacement. I opted for a brand new ZF (28/06/23) replacement unit, but after performing a successful proxy alignment, I received the following error when I try and connect to the Airbag ECU using MES.

“Unknown ISO code. Module cannot be identified.”

Does this mean the replacement airbag ECU isn’t currently recognised in the MultiECUScan database? If so, would MultiECUScan need to update their software to support the ISO module and allow proper identification?

I have a paid version of MultiECUScan (registered on the 15/9/25)

New to MES ISO codes are not uncommon. Sometimes the ISO code can be used/found on a different vehicle supported by MES. Other times it is an ISO code that is new to MES.

Suggest you send MES Support the relevant info for your ZF module.

Thanks for your advice. I did email MES support and they replied with the following:

There is no problem to diagnose and configure the new airbag module with Multiecuscan.
The unknown ISO code message means that this ISO code does not exist in Multiecuscan database and it cannot verify that the correct module is selected. We constantly add new ISO codes from latest vehicles, but still have many missing. If you select the correct ECU model from the list then you can ignore the “Unknown ISO” message and continue with diagnostics.

I’m going to give it another try over the weekend, this time using a different vehicle as you suggested. I previously tried with the Fiat Ducato (290), but it didn’t detect the new ZF unit and still showed the TRW as installed - even after a successful proxy alignment.

If you look here https://www.multiecuscan.net/SupportedVehiclesList.aspx

And do a search for ZF Airbag you will find the vehicles fitted with it.
