High Latency Problems

I have a registered version of MeultiEcuScan ver 1.9 however I am having trouble connecting to the CAN

Using the Port Scanner in Settings I get the following

ELM 327 1.3+ interface found at port COM5, speed 38400bps
This interface is compatible with ELM 327 1.4! Should connect properly with all CAN modules.
Latency Too High!!!

It has been suggested that I get a yellow adapter cable which I did, but that made no difference.

I then downloaded EasyOBD to test it, and without the yellow adapter it works fine, with the yellow adapter it fails to comunicate with the car.

If I try to connect to the engine, using MultiEcuScan, that works fine.

Anybody any thoughts?
