Injector coding issues

Post by Tayleur1854 »

Hi all,

I'm having an issue with injector coding on my Fiat Grande Punto 1.3 Multijet 90hp (no DPF), ECU is a MJD6F3HW03P, software version 6F3.P825, currently at 166,800km.

Background:
- MES shows the ECU has been written 4 times in its life, last write was at approximately 164,500km
- All 4 injectors were showing as AAAAAAAAA (9 A's) when I first scanned
- Upon physically inspecting the injectors I found that cylinders 1 and 2 appear to be replacement units and look visually different/newer than cylinders 3 and 4
- Cylinders 3 and 4 have standard format Delphi codes (BAAUBKEDT and BIAPAXCCB)
- Cylinders 1 and 2 have a different format code (8SAAAb47R and 8SH5BXF88) which may indicate Siemens/Continental replacement injectors

The problem:
When I attempt to write injector codes using MES 5.4 registered version, cylinders 2, 3 and 4 accept and retain their codes successfully. However cylinder 1 (code: 8SAAA647R) will not save — MES accepts the input with no error messages, but when I re-read the ECU it reverts back to AAAAAAAAA.

Current fault codes:
- P1301-51 Injector coding - Not programmed - Present - Light ON
- P0504-67 Brake signal - Signal incorrect after event - Intermittent
- P0116-62 Water temperature signal - Signal compare failure - Intermittent

Injector flow corrections with all A's:
- Cyl 1: -1.37 mm³/i
- Cyl 2: -0.75 mm³/i
- Cyl 3: +0.82 mm³/i
- Cyl 4: +1.33 mm³/i

Questions:
1. Is the cylinder 1 code format (8SAAAb47R) invalid for the MJD6F3 — could this be a Siemens/Continental injector that the ECU doesn't recognise?
2. Could a previously flashed/modified ECU reject specific injector codes even without throwing an error?
3. Has anyone seen this behaviour before where only one cylinder refuses to accept coding?

Any help appreciated. Happy to provide the stock .bin file if useful.

Ok, I managed to fix it, apparently that "lower case b" was just a 6 which was a bit worn out because of the car's age, hope this helps anyone with a similar issue
